You May Need To GTD If…

by Paul on 18 April 2009

I thought it might be fun to put together a long list about the need for people to use “Getting Things Done” GTD by David Allen.

But then I thought, lets make it a bit more interesting.  So I’ve only listed 10 reasons and I’ve tried to add a little humour.

Now it’s your turn…  Please add as many of your own reasons, (extra points awarded for wit!), as you like.

If I get enough, I’ll repost the whole list later.  Have fun, but keep it clean please.

  1. You never get anything done because you’re always doing everything.
  2. You don’t sleep well because you’re worried about something you haven’t done.

  5. Your memory doesn’t seem to be what it once was.
  6. You don’t sleep well because you’re worried there might be something you haven’t done.
  7. People feel they have to keep reminding you about something you promised to do.
  8. Your natural creativity is being blocked by time constraints.
  9. Your children feel the need to ask your spouse, “Who’s that?” when you do manage to get home on time.
  10. You’re always constipated because you don’t even have time to…

You are spending most of your time on the urgent and not enough on the important, which creates more urgent

You use your email inbox as a to-do list

You feel buried by emails and tasks and can’t see a way out

In short, you are constantly responding and not initiating
