Well, that’s a great problem to have for a blogger.
Halfway through the month, I went over my traffic limit on my blog. The problem is of course, that I don’t actually earn money from my blog so I don’t want to pay more than I already do to increase my traffic limit. I thought the solution might be to go to a free provider so I went about making the change.
Unfortunately it didn’t work very well. I’m not sure if it didn’t work because it was a free provider or whether my methodology behind transferring my blog was faulty. Operator error has been known to occur with me before!
And that’s not such a great problem to have.
Not only did I end up taking my whole blog off-line for well over a day, but somehow I totally mucked up my subscriber feed. I suspect because of that my subscriber numbers dropped over 20% in one day.
The site is back online with my original hosting company but I certainly need to sort this out in the very near future.
One option is to self host as we have reasonable capacity and speed on our home broadband connection.
Question: Do you have any suggestions or comments about hosting a blog from home? Any thoughts you may have will be gratefully accepted.
