21 Great Blogs

by Paul on 22 May 2009

We do best in leadership, productivity and spirituality when we have the attitude that everything’s a journey and we strive to continually learn and grow in these, and other areas.

I maintain a large and eclectic list of blogs that I keep an eye on via a feed reader.  Here are my favourite 3 in each category.  Maybe you’ll find this list useful.

Leadership

1.  Michael Hyatt
Chief Executive Officer, Thomas Nelson Inc. (If you only have time for one blog, make it this one)

2.  BeckiTrue.com
Helping Develop Effective Technology Leaders (Actually she could drop the word “technology” from the title! – A very heartfelt and inspiring blog)

3.  John Maxwell on Leadership
Everything rises and falls on leadership (You might think this blog would be top of the list considering how much I read his books.  But the blogs still young and the jury’s still out in my mind as to whether he blogs to help or to sell more books.  Time alone will tell.)

GTD (Getting Things Done)

1.  GTD Times
The Hub for all things GTD (Absolutely)

2.  Simply GTD with Kelly
David Allen’s Getting Things Done (Almost as good as the main blog)

3.  Organize IT
Practical advice on personal development, productivity and GTD

General Productivity

1.  Zen Habits
Simple Productivity (After my own heart)

2.  Black Belt Productivity
Balancing Life, Focusing Productivity, Achieving More (Yeah)

3.  WhiteHatBlackBox
Designing Personal & Social Productivity (More great stuff)

eProductivity

1.  Simoons & Company
No by-line but great eProductivity stuff.

2.  Notes on Productivity
Eric Mack’s own blog (Eric designed and built eProductivity- Doesn’t post quite often enough to warrant first place!)

3.  Jens Bruntts Blog
42 and other answers in Digital living, Lotus Technologies and my family life (Good eProductivity stuff here often)

Spirituality

1.  The Rubicon
challenge, contradict, confirm, converse, convey

2.  MandM
Matt and Madelleine Flannagan on many issues (Very deep!)

3.  Out of Ur
Conversations for Ministry Leaders (Could fall under Leadership section too)

Techie Stuff

1.  Lifehacker
Tips and downloads for getting things done

2.  Mind Mapping Software Blog

3.  Smarterware
Use your head – and great software (Gina Trapani of Lifehacker fame)

Anything Else

1.  Kiwiblog
Fomenting Happy Mischief since 2003

2.  Gavin Knight
A close friend who blogs

3.  Effing the Dog
Eventualism – The Productivity Alternative (very funny and irreverent)

Feel free to let me know if I’m missing one’s that you’d put into your top 3 in each of these categories.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the link.

Have you been to work.life.creativity yet (http://forum.worklifecreativity.net)? It’s a combination blog/forum with the intent on creating a community around productivity. It was started by the Black Belt Productivity guy (as well as others). I’ve already seen James from OrganizeIt there and I thought you might be interested.
