When I claimed that “What the World Needs Now” are great leaders, Mary H Ruth wanted to know who I felt fell into this category today.

I have to say that this is really hard to answer.  Mostly because just when I think someone may be all these things, they go and prove me wrong!  At the time of their leadership questions will often hang over their head.  Barack Obama sounds trustworthy but will he allow being in the position of President to corrupt him?  Only time will tell.  (NB.  I make no judgement on the his ideology – we need great leaders from all sides of the political and religious spectrums).

History will be the judge of leaders from this time.  I will say that Mahatma Ghandi and Mother Teresa are examples of great leaders in this context.

At the same time Becki felt I should take the 7 attributes

1. Great Leaders Are Trustworthy

2. Great Leaders Have A Vision Of A Better Future

3. Great Leaders Know How To Get There

4. Great Leaders Grow Great Leaders

5. Great Leaders Serve Those They Lead

6. Great Leaders Know That People Matter Most

7. Great Leaders Seek Peace

that I said were important and write separate posts on each.  This I intend to do and these posts will start appearing shortly.

In the meantime, I’d like all of my readers to have their say on this topic.  So I ask these two questions:

1. Who do you think are great leaders from the past; and

2. Who do you think are great leaders now (or at least have the potential to be so).
