Here we go again
Yet another book telling me how to do things differently. Yet another tome offering a silver bullet to all the woes that afflict an organisation. At least that’s what I thought I was in for as I, with some trepidation, opened this book for the first time. I was wrong, dead wrong.
I was wrong, dead wrong
An exciting read – unusual in a business book!
From the exciting first few pages, through riveting stories I was transfixed by a philosophy that makes so much sense and is so simple that I can’t understand why it hasn’t been put into words before. But then again, maybe it has. More likely, parts of it have been suggested in many different ways but the whole hasn’t been presented before. Or even, the whole has been presented, but not in such a compelling and attention grabbing way.
How can you survive?
Basically the premise is very simple, that an organisation needs to be distinctively different to survive competition. So far so good, most people would agree. Scott McKain however then bursts your bubble as to just what being distinctive really means.
He then goes on to give the four cornerstones:
-
Clarity;
-
Creativity;
-
Communication; and
-
Customer-Experience Focus
A Challenge
No mind blowing stuff there you might say but I challenge you to read this book before you make a judgement.
I challenge you to read this book
Just a little warning, it all seems simple but any implementation will be hard work and it certainly isn’t a silver bullet either. There’s a lot of other stuff you need to get right to succeed also.
