Lead? Hardly... This is a 'lead apparently heard by Hewitt in a bar passed to his son in a letter delivered by a mysterious person and then burnt. If that is evidence then I don't know what the world is coming to.

It is a great way to make money though - Maddie Fund might cough up some to talk to him and the papers probably will too. Nice little earner!

What we know about child trafficking also comes through the media. We can be shocked and horrified and make our donations but its a distant thing that happens “other places” to people far removed from our everyday lives. I think the reason Madeline and her family got so much attention was that it was so much “closer to home” in the sense we all thought – that could have been my child. I wonder if this tragedy has helped us be more realistic; to see now that child abduction/ trafficking IS in our world and the illusion of it happening to other people is a lot thinner. What to do about it is the bigger question. Not knowing what to do, or how to make a difference tends to make ostriches of the best of us…

The motivation of this particular media outlet is quite obvious, its about market share, and its nothing about madeleine nor the welfare of any children, in fact the welfare of anyone other than its owners.. Why would anyone need to ring the news paper? and why would anyone actually trust "news of the world" in strict confidence.. Slavery, trafficking and the like did not end in 1807, when Wilberforce and Clarkson got the bill through the english parliament… ( it is a shame ). It is relatively easy ( without belittling the efforts of those great men ) to legislate against slavery and trafficking, its is harder to control and police those laws, and largely such measures are not 100% effective.Trafficking and slavery will only cease, when the "demand" ceases. And i see no other way to solve this problem than to address the "hearts and minds" of those who perpetrate these terrible crimes.

For me the specialist ( yes I know that's not a word) part was hearing testimonies form Gavin, Mitch and Janette…..that's Commissioner Janette! Showed the impact on peoples lives….yay SAJ.And the Lamb….'of God' and 'Curry'.
